Web Typography
With a technological revolution and 500 years of typographic tradition under our belts, why in the world has the Web been stuck with Verdana and Arial for so long? There are now multiple ways to include custom fonts in an HTML document, and each has its advantages and drawbacks. In this session, from the creator of the renowned CSS Zen Garden, you'll learn about these methods, see how to implement them, and find out when and why they make sense for your projects.

Utah Teapot Story
The Utah teapot or Newell teapot is a 3D model which has become a standard reference object (and something of an in-joke) in the computer graphics community. Like in 3D Max! It is a mathematical model of an ordinary teapot of comparatively simple shape, which appears solid, cylindrical and partially convex. The idea was that if you can make a 3D teapot, then you make anything in 3D!
The teapot model was created in 1975 by early computer graphics researcher Martin Newell, a member of the pioneering graphics program at the University of Utah.

SIGGRAPH Announces 2008 Winners (Computer Animation Festival)
SIGGRAPH announced the Computer Animation Festival's Best of Show, Jury Award, Student Prize, Audience Prize, and a special Well Told Fable Prize for SIGGRAPH 2008, the 35th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques.
"The caliber of submissions this year was truly phenomenal, which made the jury's job especially difficult," said Jill Smolin, SIGGRAPH 2008 Conference Entertainment Director. "The winners truly showcase what is possible today and provide a glimpse into what artists can achieve in the future. Really, the only limitation is the imagination."
Award and prize winners were chosen from hundreds of submissions from around the globe, presented by both professional studios and students alike. An expert panel of jury members selected the winners for exemplary use of computer-generated imagery, animation, and storytelling. SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Award Recipient Ken Perlin and a host of industry presenters recognized the nominees and winners in a fun, lively awards ceremony.
Best of Show Winner
Oktapodi
Gobelins, l'ecole de l'image, France

Jury Award Winner
Mauvais Role

Our Wonderful Nature
Hochschule fur Film und Fernsehen
"Konrad Wolf" Potsdam-Babelsberg

Making Every Possible Mistake!
Did you see the MacBook Air commercial yet? Quite catchy, right?
I decided to find the full song and guess what? I think there was hidden message there!
Listen to it and try to find what Apple marketing department was trying to tell you?
I’m a new soul I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take but since I came here felt the joy and the fear finding myself making every possible mistake...
No disk driv Non-removable battery 2 GB non-removable ram, 4200 RPM 80Gb hard drive. 1 usb port, 1 headphone jack, 1 micro-DVI. $1799 And...
Does it make sense now? DUH!
